OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY – Thursday 21stMay 2020.
Outdoor Classroom Day is to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning, at home and at school. On Outdoor Classroom Day teachers usually organise a special day outdoors for their class. In response to the coronavirus crisis, the movement will look a bit different in 2020.
This year the theme is Playful Nature!
As the coronavirus crisis continues, children around the world are spending more time indoors and in front of screens. Connecting to nature can restore our sense of wellbeing. For children, this connection is best made through play – whether outdoors in nature or indoors with natural elements.
Dress up in nature on 21 May and share your creations with the world! If it’s possible, you could spend the whole day playing outdoors in your creation. Or you could dress up for your daily walk. This is something everyone can take part in! Whatever you do, share it on social media on 21 May using #PlayfulNature.
Through play, we will help children retain their connection to the natural world during the coronavirus crisis.
